Reddy Bikeshare Introduces Simon Husted

The Reddy Bikeshare Team is excited to introduce its new Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Simon Husted.

Simon, an enthusiast of all things Buffalo and long-time Reddy Bikeshare member, starts this new role in time for the seventh season of deploying a fleet of 400 bikes across the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Simon will lead Reddy’s outreach and marketing events, as well as strengthening and expanding partnerships in the community and among cyclists of all athletic levels.

Simon’s face–or at least the milk crate he mounts to the back of his bike–is a familiar sight roaming around Buffalo’s streets. Since returning home to Buffalo in 2017, Simon volunteers and participates in community bike rides organized by Slow Roll Buffalo and East Side Bike Club. And if his bike is not pedaling in the street, perhaps it is seen racked in front of an NFTA-Metro bus, leveraging public transit to live an active lifestyle whenever possible, year round. Whether the weather brings rain, sun, wind or snow, Simon gears up and commutes by bike every day to complete an errand for work, exercise at the gym, grab lunch at a local business or meet someone for an appointment.

Since moving back to Buffalo, Simon has been an annual subscriber of Reddy Bikeshare because it fills unique transportation needs. Like instances when a friend wants to join him on a bike commute, but has no bike of their own; or when he has to meet up for an afternoon carpool with friends, but there’s no room on the car to store a bike; or when his own bike breaks down mid-way through a commute and a Plan-B needs to be deployed.

Simon spent most of his adult life in Northeast Ohio and Cleveland, where he worked as a daily newspaper reporter and a news producer for a local NPR station. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in News Journalism from Kent State University and eventually went back to school to earn a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Development at Cleveland State University. Soon after returning home to Buffalo, Simon earned a real estate salesperson license and worked in property management and real estate investment for the past 4 years.

Simon takes over the role of marketing and communications from Reddy Bikeshare’s co-founder Jen White, who earlier this winter became Marketing and Communications Manager for Lexington Co-op Markets. Although she has a new job, Jen remains a valued member of the Reddy Bikeshare family as a strategic advisor and avid supporter. Simon is Reddy to build upon the success of the team and make this year’s season its best yet.
